Hello!
As the founder and co-owner of Made Open, I've spent over 20 years as CEO, blending service design and strategy to solve complex problems and create social value. Along the way, I conceived our community software, enabling us to combine our problem-solving skills as a respected service design agency and deliver innovative solutions through technology, partnerships and collaboration.
During that time, I’ve had the privilege of leading a talented team and supporting amazing clients who, like me, are dedicated to empowering communities of place and purpose for positive change.
On April 1st, 2025, I handed over the CEO baton to Phil, allowing me to focus more on what I love – working directly with clients to bring their strategies to life and drive positive change in communities. With many of our platforms thriving, I want to double down on what I call the 5Ps and explore new opportunities for impact.
As a specialist in online communities and systems thinking, my career has been shaped by a relentless curiousity and a commitment to solving complex problems.
Whether as a digital strategist, service designer or business owner, I’ve always approached challenges with a systems mindset - seeking to understand the full picture before crafting tailored solutions.
That said, I’m not without help. I sometimes need Kathryn to help with translation. She speaks Rob! A client once expressed their gratitude: "Thank God someone does", he said. It was a fair point!
